SAN ANTONIO — A man is in jail after authorities say he assaulted a state trooper and barricaded himself inside a home in Lytle, southwest of San Antonio.

The trooper stopped the man for a minor traffic violation, but discovered he had three active warrants. When he tried to make an arrest, the man head butted the trooper, broke into a nearby home and refused to come out.

After several hours, Bexar County SWAT entered the home and arrested the man.

Neighbors say they aren’t used to seeing a heavy police presence in the neighborhood.

"It's worrisome. We move out here so we don't have to see things like this in town so to see something like this, it's scary."

The man is facing several charges, including assault on a public servant.
