SEGUIN, Texas — The man who stole a Christmas tree from a Seguin Whataburger’s heart must have grown three sizes after watching the police department’s video.

He returned the tree after he stole it on a dare, according to the Seguin Police Department.

“Just like the Grinch in Whoville that year,

He wound up finding his Christmas cheer.

Our local guy, who stole from Whataburger on a dare,

Returned the short tree, which is actually quite rare.

To those who might steal this Christmas year,

We ask that you rather give some Christmas cheer.

~Seguin (aka Whoville) Police Department”

The department put together a Facebook video (see below), branding him the "Whataburger Grinch.”

The man visited the police station later after returning it, where he will be sentenced to community service.

SEGUIN, Texas — Police need the public’s help identifying a local “grinch” caught on camera stealing a christmas tree from the local Whataburger.

In a video posted on the Seguin Police Department's Facebook page, the man came into the restaurant at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. He reached behind the counter to unplug the mini tree and ran off.

Anyone with any information on the Grinch, please call the police department and speak to Officer Martina Wissmann at 830-379-2123 or the Seguin Investigations Department at 830-401-2360.
