NATIONWIDE -- Belk has agreed to allow Salvation Army bell ringers outside of its stores for the holidays.

Last week, the announcement to not have the Salvation Army's bell ringers for its "Kettle Campaign" sent many in the public into an uproar.

After many complaints, representatives from the store say they've changed their minds about the decision.

A release says, "When our customers speak, we listen. And our customers have been loud and clear about their passion for the Salvation Army. We have had a long relationship with the Salvation Army, and they are absolutely welcome at all of our 294 stores."

There's no word on what caused the original ban.

Belk plans to continue its "Home for the Holidays" campaign with Habitat for Humanity.
