CHARLOTTE -- The victim of a carjacking at the Arboretum in south Charlotte says she's hesitant to go out alone anymore.

Susan Day was just trying to run some errands Monday when it happened.

Day went into the McDonalds at the Arboretum for food. As she was leaving, a couple walked out of the restaurant, stole her keys and started to get in the car.

The 72 year old tried to fight back but she was shoved to the ground.

Day had her arm around the door as the pair started to drive away. She eventually fell off.

After a police chase into South Carolina, police were able to arrest the two involved in Rock Hill.

Police identified the suspects as Jason Mosley and Melissa Werts. Both have a number of prior arrests in Charlotte.

Meanwhile, Day says she's still in shock.

"You just don't think of it,” she said. “A 72-year-old woman going to McDonalds to get something to eat. [I was] hoping that I could scratch his face. He'd stop and run. Is what I hoped."

Day has a few scratches and bruises, but was thankful to the folks in the parking lot who came to her aid.
