AUSTIN, Texas -- With two weeks left until open enrollment closes, sign-ups in Texas have surpassed last year's numbers.

Since open enrollment started Nov. 1, more than 300,000 Texans have signed up for health insurance at HealthCare.gov, with total sign-ups in Texas up by 52 percent from last year.

“Such a strong start to open enrollment shows just how much people want health insurance and that they’re finding coverage they can afford when they visit HealthCare.gov,” said Lori Lodes, co-founder of Get America Covered. “But there’s not much time left to sign up for coverage. We need to do everything we can to make sure people know that the last chance for people to enroll for health coverage.”

The application deadline to sign up for 2018 health coverage is Dec. 15. To find a coverage plan and sign up visit HealthCare.gov. A hotline is set up to answer questions or concerns regarding coverage at 1-800-318-2596.
