AUSTIN, Texas – A woman was stabbed in front of the University United Methodist Church near the University of Texas campus. 

The stabbing happened at the corner of Guadalupe St. and W. 24 St. just before 9 p.m.

The victim is a homeless woman in her 40s. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to University of Texas Police.  

Her attacker fled the scene. 

The suspect is described as between 5'5" and 5'9" tall, in their 20s or 30s and is slightly heavy set, according to the University of Texas Police. A gender was not given for the suspect.

Campus police is asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call 911.
