CEDAR PARK, Texas – This “Caturday” you can adopt a furry friend for free in Cedar Park.

Austin Pets Alive is waiving adoption fees on cats and kittens as part of the "Caturday" event.  All of the pets up for adoption have been fully vetted, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered.

Each of the cats were recently taken off of the euthanasia list. Adopting one of the cats at the event will open up a space to house another animal at the Austin Pets Alive shelter.

Austin is a no kill city, which means animal shelters are required to keep more than 90 percent of their pets alive. Since the no kill plan was implemented in 2010, Austin went from euthanizing 15,000 pets a year to fewer than 1,000.

"Caturday" is Nov. 25, from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Lakeline PetSmart on 11066 Pecan Park Blvd. Ste. 315 in Cedar Park.
