NATIONWIDE -- USA Today released a study that ranked the No. 1 city in each state with the highest levels of binge and excessive drinking.
The report identified the Austin-Round Rock area as the heaviest drinking metro area in Texas, with one in every five adults drinking excessively.
The study was conducted by 24/7 Wall St., which compiled data from the CDC to identify the metropolitan areas reporting the highest levels of binge and heavy drinking in each state.
According to the CDC, excessive drinking includes binge drinking (four or more drinks in a single occasion for women and five or more for men) and heavy drinking (which is defined as at least eight drinks per week for women and 15 for men).
