ROWAN COUNTY -- A fugitive who police say escaped from a Florida jail with two other inmates on Friday was found and arrested in Rowan County.

Deputies say an anonymous tip early Tuesday morning led them to a house on Austin Street in the Rockwell area, where 25-year-old Casey Martina was sleeping on the couch.

They also recovered a car stolen out of the state of Virginia with ammo in the center console, tools and cut locks.

“Certainly time is of the essence when you get a tip like that,” said Capt. John Sifford with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. “You also want to take precautions and try to make sure that you have every avenue of escape covered when you approach the residence.”

Martina is being held in the Rowan County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.

Officials say they are already working to extradite him back to Florida.

At this time the two other missing inmates are not believed to be in the Rowan County area.
