AUSTIN, Texas – The City of Austin has been named a winner of the 2017 Digital Cities Survey by the Center for Digital Government.

Austin won 8th place in the 500,000 or more population category.

Cities were selected based on progress toward making local government and its relationship with citizens more transparent, efficient and responsive.

The survey honored cities in five population classifications:

• 500,000 or more
• 250,000 to 499,999
• 125,000 to 249,999
• 75,000 to 124,999
• Fewer than 75,000.

The 17th annual survey analyzed and ranked city governments across the country based on innovative initiatives using data and technology that seek to connect and engage with the public on vital government processes.
