ROUND ROCK, Texas — In the days following the Sutherland Springs massacre, local churches are weighing new security measures.

The Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock says they're considering fencing off their on site preschool.

Leaders say security cameras could be added as well. It's part of the training they're receiving from the Round Rock Police Department, which says education can go a long way in dangerous situations. On top of the security measures, the church is also considering forming a so-called safety team.

“It's not just active shooter situations. It's what are the risks, what are some of the opportunities we have? For instance, when we looked at our building we realized we have 24 exits and entrances. So what does it mean to monitor things like that," says Pastor David Koppel of the Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock.

The Round Rock Police Department has held similar natural disaster and emergency training sessions in the past.
