SAN ANTONIO -- The world's first solar mural art installation will be featured at the tenth annual San Antonio Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival.

The mural titled "La Monarca," created by local artist Cruz Ortiz, aims to showcase the city's commitment to Monarch preservation and tell the evolving story of solar energy in the world.

"It's one of those things where we want to talk about the marriage of art and science because it helps people relate to it a little bit more than just a row of solar farm in the middle of the country,” said Kimberly Britton, the CEO of EPIcenter.

The festival runs Friday through Saturday night. The art piece will eventually find a home at the EPIcenter where it will generate clean energy.
