AUSTIN, Texas — Work is set to begin now that voters have approved Travis County's $185 million dollar bond.

About half of that, which is about $94 million, will be used for road and drainage projects. The other half, just over $91 million, will be used for parks and land conservation.

County commissioners say the additional money will also help make improvements at the Community First Village, which houses those who are formerly homeless — It will now have a bike lane and sidewalk.

People who live at Austin's Colony will also see some changes — a second road will be built to accommodate the growing neighborhood.

Also, with flooding being a constant concern in Travis County — fixing low water crossings is included in the to-do list.

Now that the bond has passed, Travis County residents who live in a home valued at $305,000 can expect to pay $24 more a year in taxes.
