AUSTIN, Texas – A St. Edward’s University student has died following a deadly fall while she was studying abroad in Asia for the semester.

Kassandra Braun died Nov. 7 around 4 p.m. in Myanmar. According to a news release from the program, Braun took off on a solo trip to Bagan, a city in Myanmar.

Information surrounding her fall is limited, but the program says she was severely injured and died on the way to the hospital.

Braun was a part of the Semester at Sea program, which offers students a chance to attend classes while sailing the Indian Ocean.

Her parents said she was having the “time of her life” while taking classes abroad.

“She was so full of life and love, gave so much to so many,” said Braun’s parents in a statement released by the Semester at Sea program.  “She had a tremendous love for her friends and teachers at Cathedral High School and St. Edward’s University.”

Mental health professionals will be on-call to meet with the program's students.

The program says they will release more information as soon as it is available.
