AUSTIN, Texas – A former LBJ High School teaching assistant has been charged with an improper student relationship.

An email was sent out on Friday to the LASA and LBJ Early College High School families and faculty informing them of the arrest warrant.

In a statement from the Austin Independent School District, the teaching assistant was placed on administrative leave immediately after the district found out about the allegations. The former employee was fired on Oct. 30 and is now facing a second degree felony.

School officials said due to the ongoing investigation limited information can be released at this time, including the employee’s name.

"As always, we appreciate your support as we work together to ensure each student’s safety at LASA and LBJ ECHS," said LBJ High School Principal Sheila Henry.

AISD has reported the incident to the Texas Education Agency.
