FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who was died Oct. 16 at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

Sgt. Sameer Chalise, 28, died from injuries suffered on Oct. 14 while swimming with friends in Mansfield, Texas. Chalise entered active-duty service in January 2015 as a unit supply specialist. He was assigned to the Replacement Detachment, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood, Texas, since October 2017.

His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
