STATEWIDE - Startups from San Antonio to Austin may soon get a large flow of cash. That's because Boston-based nonprofit Mass Challenge is setting up shop in the region. Mass Challenge raises money and then hands it out to companies with the most promise to make an impact. Only about a hundred companies will be selected to split a cash prize of $500,000.

Leaders with Mass Challenge say winning companies will get the resources they need to extend their reach.

"It's going to connect an ecosystem in Texas all the way around the world to places like the U.K., Israel, Switzerland, and Mexico City," said Managing Director of Mass Challenge Texas Mike Millard.

The nonprofit will go through several rounds of judging before announcing the winners in January.
