SAN ANTONIO - Tejano music fans were greeted by a familiar face on their favorite search engine Tuesday.

Google paid tribute to Selena Quintanilla with her first-ever Google Doodle.

“I thought the animation was just awesome,” said Tejano music fan Patricia Faz.

The tech giant was celebrating the life and legacy of the late Mexican-American singer.

On October 17, 28 years ago, the Queen of Tejano debuted her first solo album titled "Selena."

“She was like, I mean - one of a kind,” said Robert Esparza manager at Janie’s Record Shop.

Esparza remembers all of Selena’s album release days. He’s been selling Tejano music for more than 30 years.

“She broke that barrier as a business woman, as an artist, as a performer. She had the full package,” said Esparza.

Her Tejano music fans hope the Google tribute will inspire future artists.

“The sky’s the limit, you know. They can be anything - musicians, singer or whatever, you know,” said Tejano music fan Albert Faz.

Music fans we spoke to added - they would like to see Google Doodles of other Tejano stars - like Emilio Navaira.
