AUSTIN, Texas - New numbers from the Texas Council on Family Violence show that 146 Texas women were killed by a male romantic partner last year.

The group says while there is a slight decrease from the record number of deaths in 2015, it's still too many.

The council is teaming up with Texas musicians for an ad campaign to help put a stop to domestic violence.

"We hope that women out there will feel empowered, will feel the strength of the music, will feel that they're supported and will feel that they are enough by knowing that they are not alone," said Andra Liemandt, drummer for The Mrs.

According to the council, Bexar, Harris and Dallas counties have the highest rates of domestic violence deaths in the state. The youngest victim was 15-years-old and the oldest was 92.
