CENTRAL TEXAS - Almost a week since narrowly escaping the Las Vegas massacre, a shooting survivor is back home in Texas.

Chad Daoust survived a gunshot wound to the back and is now recovering in his Briarcliff home. While he begins the process of healing, his 18-year-old neighbor, Cade Bruck, began fundraising online to help pay for medical bills and travel expenses. Bruck is classmates with Mr. Daoust's son, Riley.

He said the Daoust family has become like a second family.

"The Daoust family is just kind, welcoming, they're super supportive. They're like another family. Everyone views them as the kindest people--most generous. They'll always go the extra mile to make you happy. They're comforting and super nice people," said Bruck.

Other Vegas survivors from Texas include Michaela Clark of Austin, Seguin Deputy Chief of Police Bruce Ure, Danae Gibbs of Cedar Park and Bryce Wellman of Austin.
