ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Williamson County Health Department closed a Round Rock hotel due to five confirmed cases of Legionnaires' disease.

The Marriott's Spring Hill Suites on Hoppe Trail will be closed temporarily while the situation is investigated.

Officials say all of the people affected have spent time at the hotel since June.

The hotel is working with a third-party company to fix the problem and stop the spread.

Springhill Suites is working to move current guests to nearby hotels, but hotel officials believe that the hotel may reopen as early as Oct. 24.

Legionnaires' disease is a type of pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacteria and is typically spread through water droplets in the air, according to the Centers of Disease Control.
