College students in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands could get a boost from Gov. Cuomo.

He's calling on the SUNY and CUNY boards to allow students displaced by the recent storms to attend public colleges in New York at the in-state tuition rate.

The governor said the move would provide financial relief for families struggling to rebuild after the devastation from Hurricanes Maria and Irma.

More than a million Puerto Ricans call New York state home and more residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands list New York as their birthplace than any other state.
