AUSTIN, Texas - A night that was meant for enjoyment quickly turned into terror.

"No one knew where the shots were coming from, it was just chaos and everyone was running," said Bryce Wellman.

Wellman, an Austin resident, was in a suite at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when he realized what he thought were firecrackers were actually gunshots.

"When we were running there was a lot of people that had blood on their clothes and had no idea where it was from," Wellman said. "One of the girls next to us was shot in the chest."

Wellman wasn't injured in the attack, but others, like Danae Gibbs, weren't as lucky.

"We do know that she was stuck twice by two different bullets in the abdomen and groin area. The recovery is going to be pretty extensive," said Todd Mears, Riverbend Church Children's Pastor.

The 23-year-old Texas Tech grad is from Cedar Park and works part-time at Riverbend Church in Austin, serving in the children's ministry.

The Las Vegas concert was an early birthday present for Gibbs.

Now, her church family is anticipating her safe return.

"To say this has hit home, we see Danae every week, and it's really been tough for the Riverbend community and just the people that love her," said Mears.

Sunday's senseless tragedy has left many struggling to comprehend what happened, especially the victims' loved ones.

Those at Riverbend Church are relying on their trust in something greater.

"For Danae's family, they are holding onto their faith and pressing onto their hope," said David Haney, Riverbend Church Pastor. "Their pain is for the people who didn't walk away that night.
