Born and raised in San Antonio's South Side, Annette's dreams of becoming a reporter began to sprout roots while she was attending the University of the Incarnate Word. She majored in communications, minored in music and learned the ins and outs of television news while interning at KSAT-12, the local ABC affiliate.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in 2006, Annette accepted her first journalism job reporting for KGNS-TV in the booming border town of Laredo, Texas. She would hone her craft telling stories about the troubles that come with a city struggling to keep up with explosive growth, as well as the explosive cartel violence taking place on the Mexican side of the border. She would also build strong ties with area law enforcement officials working to contain the spillover violence.
In 2012, Annette would follow her career, and her producer fiancé, farther south to the Rio Grande Valley. She reported for KRGV-TV, the local ABC affiliate, for just a few months before being promoted to the position of bureau chief for Brownsville/South Padre Island. While at KRGV, Annette was nominated for an Emmy.
Annette's next chapter would be her homecoming. She began reporting for Spectrum News in January 2015 and hasn't looked back. Annette now reports on local government and community news. She is also expanding her horizons traveling throughout the state for her "Around Texas" travel series.
Annette, her husband and her dog, Thunder, plan to make San Antonio their permanent home.
