AUSTIN, Texas -- With the 2018 elections approaching, thousands of high school students will be able to vote for the first time.

However, they first have to register.

According to a new report, most Texas high schools aren't registering students to vote, despite a state law that requires principals or other registrars to circulate voter registration forms at least twice a year.

The Secretary of State's Office has acknowledged the low number of schools requesting such forms and said it's making student voter registration a top priority.
