KILLEEN, Texas – One soldier died on Tuesday evening during a medical evacuation training exercise at Fort Hood.
An Army statement identified the soldier as Staff Sgt. Sean Devoy.
Fort Hood officials say the aircraft crew was doing hoist training when the 28-year-old soldier was killed Tuesday night on a range south of an airfield at the post in Killeen.
Both the soldier and the aircraft were based out of Fort Riley, which is 70 miles west of Topeka, Kan.
The incident is under investigation, according to a Fort Hood press official.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., offered his condolences to the family of Devoy.
