AUSTIN, Texas — Austinites broke the record for power used in the month of July on Thursday.
Austin Energy says the record was broken at 2 in the afternoon, and continued to climb.

Austin-Mabry hit over 100 degrees for the 17th time this year.
Today's use of power in Texas broke the July record at 2 p.m. and continues to climb. ERCOT reports no problems meeting demand.

Temperatures sat in the upper 90s and low 100s, but the humidity made it feel more like 105.
