MANOR, Texas - The dog that attacked a 7-year-old boy in Manor on July 3 was euthanized, said the Manor Police Department.

The police decided to put the dog down after the department discovered that the dog bit another child in 2014.

The boy was attacked by a pit bull mix while he was playing in the yard of a home in the 14400 block of Callan Court around 8 p.m. on July 3. He was taken to a local hospital with bites to his upper thighs and the left side of his back.

The police said that the boy is recovering well.

The dog's owner will not be charged for the attack, but has been cited for having an unregistered dog, unprovoked attack, failing to have proof of rabies vaccination and animal at large.
