WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and FBI dug up a 15-by-20-foot area about five miles north of Liberty Hill Friday, after they received a tip it was the location of the remains of Rachel Cooke.
"The tip was only specific to the fact that there is possibly remains of a human," Sheriff Robert Chody said. "The name, Rachel Cooke, was brought up one time. We have no evidence to indicate other than that one tip that Rachel Cooke was involved."
Cooke disappeared Jan. 10, 2002 from near her Georgetown home.

Chody said he followed through on the lead to try to bring closure to the families still missing a loved one.
"We brought four dogs out here--the cadaver dogs--and all four dogs indicated that they alerted a scent of human remains," Chody said.
However, after four hours of searching, crews called off their efforts.
Chody said the Williamson County Cold Case Unit, which he assembled last month, will assist in the investigation moving forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Williamson County Sheriff's Office at (512) 943-1300.
