Travis County Judge Tamara Needles ruled that White's attorneys, Krista Chacona, Jana Ortega and Gabriella Young, have until June 2 to respond to the prosecution's motion from last week's initial hearing.

The State of Texas asked Judge Needles to determine whether or not the 21-year-old can stand trial, based on his sanity and competency.

A few days following the UT student's arrest, White's lawyers hired an expert to examine his mental health.

Prosecutors said they want an independent doctor to conduct another mental health exam, and for that report to factor into the judge's decision.

A hearing to argue those motions is set for June 9.

Harrison Brown, a freshman from Graham, Texas, was killed in the campus attack.

White told police that he has no memory of the attack, and that, "If I did something I don't remember then I want to be told."

Austin police said when asked if he knew why he was arrested, White said yes, "Accusations of pushing someone down and I think using a bladed weapon."

Police then asked White if he was hearing voices in his head.

White said his mind told him to "tell the truth and withhold any action that he did because it really didn't happen."

He told police he bought the knife used in the attacks several days earlier for protection and that May 1 was the first time he used it.

During the police interview, White took off the belt holding the knife's sheath and placed it on the table in front of him.

White remains in jail, charged with murder. His bond is set at $1 million.

-- Friends Stunned --

Former Killeen High School classmate Kay'Lynn Wilkerson told the Killeen Daily Herald that she remembers White as "a really smart guy in high school. He was always nice, had plenty of friends"

High school classmate Angela Bonilla currently attends UT. She told the Herald that "no one expected him to do this. He was always the sweetest guy, laughing, and having a good time with people."
