AUSTIN, Texas -- Senator John Cornyn will be in Austin today, promoting a new approach to licensing requirements. He'll meet with representatives from the cosmetology, heating, ventilation and air conditioning industries to promote his Power of Employment Act.
Cornyn plans to discuss occupational licensing requirements and how they affect job creation, mobility and public safety. The Institute for Justice ranks Texas licensing regulations as the 17th most problematic in the country.
Cornyn hopes the bill will allow governors to use federal funds to change those regulations.
