AUSTIN, Texas — More charges are on the way for the man accused of trying to assassinate a state judge.
Chimene Onyeri is facing six counts of witness tampering, accused of trying to silence witnesses from his jail cell.
An updated federal indictment says Onyeri passed notes to a fellow Travis County Jail inmate asking him to call six witnesses and tell them not to speak to investigators.
In November 2015, judge Julie Kocurek was shot outside her Austin home.
Onyeri and two others are facing charges in the shooting.
All three have pleaded not guilty.
