GEORGETOWN, Texas -  Community leaders gathered Monday morning for the Second Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Prayer Breakfast.

The Georgetown Ministerial Alliance held the event at the city's Public Safety Operations and Training Center as an opportunity to pray with and for community leaders as they start the new year.

Members of the Alliance say the goal is to help Georgetown become a community of excellence and compassion.

"We're all people, regardless of race, ethnicities, religion, gender et. cetera. We're considered as beloved children of God. So that's the aim for some of us, is to create this beloved community here in Georgetown," said Ron Swain, Georgetown Ministerial Alliance.

Members from the city council, police department and school board were among those in attendance.
