AUSIN, Texas - From high school to high tech, some local students took a walk in the business world on Monday.

High schoolers from all over Texas traveled to Austin for the Student Startup Crawl, which lets kids explore the tech startup scene. Along the way, they met company founders, CEOs and software engineers, and learned just how STEM classes can shape their future.

"Even companies that aren't necessarily technology companies are very, very wrapped in technology, and so learning coding, learning web design, it's just going to be critical to the future," said Roger Morgan, computer science teacher at Crockett High School.

Stops included WeWork, Capital Factory, Retail Me Not and Facebook.

The event is part of the national Computer Science Education Week, which runs through Sunday.
