AUSTIN, Texas — Over $90,000 and climbing — that's how much money has been raised so far through a go fund me account to keep the nation's oldest veteran in his home.

One-hundred and ten-year-old Richard Overton wants to live out his days in the east Austin home he built 70 years ago, when he first came home from World War II.

Although he was driving just two years ago, Overton now needs round-the-clock care, something his veteran affairs benefits don't provide for at home.

So last week, his family started an online fundraising campaign to try to pay for the care he wants, while keeping him in his home.

The campaign quickly reached the initial goal of $50,000 but that will only pay for three months of care.

A new goal of $100,000 was set and it looks like it will be reached sometime this week.
