AUSTIN, Texas - It may look like a real emergency, but it's really just a disaster drill for UT nursing and social work students.

Over a year went into planning the event, which simulates the aftermath of a tornado strike at a crowded football stadium.

Organizers say the drill gives students a frame of reference for real world disasters.

"All students enjoy having the opportunity to practice their skills because they will practice triaging, they practice treatment and they learn to collaborate with other health care professionals," said Ana Todd, assistant professor of clinical nursing at UT.

CDC experts are calling for more and better-trained disaster management teams.
