AUSTIN, Texas—An inmate at the Travis County Correctional Complex was found dead in his cell last Thursday.

Dennis Rogers, 46, had just finished lunch and was getting ready to be released when he was found unresponsive in his cell.  A medical emergency was called and despite life saving measures being taken he was pronounced dead. Rogers had been in custody since Oct. 14 when he was arrested by the Austin Police Department for Criminal Trespassing.

He was sentenced to 10 days in jail earlier on Oct. 20 and was due to be released after being given credit for time served.

The death is currently under investigation and the autopsy report has not been finalized pending toxicology reports. Authorities said that there was no indication of traumatic injury or foul play and the medical examiner’s office said early reports indicate the cause of death is natural causes.

This is the third death in custody for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office in 2016.
