AUSTIN—We all know Austin's a pet friendly place, but what's less apparent is the work behind the scenes that keeps it that way.

"I think it's very important to support the adoption process in Austin. The no kill movement is super important to us as veterinarians."

That’s why Dr. Wystrach and her colleagues at ZippiVet committed to a five year sponsorship of Austin Pets Alive.

"I think that that passion of really wanting to help those pets and the people adopting those pets was really the driving force behind facilitating this partnership with Austin Pets Alive,” said Wystrach.

As part of the sponsorship, Dr. Wystrach and ZippiVet are making monthly monetary donations, providing medical supplies and giving starter kits to new pet parents.

"I'm very much empowered by client education and making sure that they have all the tools they need to have a successful relationship with a dog or a cat for the lifetime of that pet,” said Wystrach.

It's that do-more attitude that separates Dr. Wystrach from others in her field.

“Veterinarians spend our lives taking care of animals but we also need to be mindful of the participation piece and what we're obligated to do as a member of the community,” said Wystrach.
