The Austin Music Industry Awards returned for its second annual celebration.

Monday night's event was an opportunity to recognize the people off stage, who make Austin's iconic music scene possible.

Locals participated in this Austin Chronicle event by voting for categories like best music venue, favorite DJs, and best record stores.

Austin Chronicle music news columnist, Kevin Curtin, believes that all of these behind-the-scenes operations are what help make Austin the live music capital of the world.

"These are the people whose jobs it are to make things happen man. We give awards for best lighting. We give awards for best booker, best sound.  These are the things that aren't the star of the show, but Austin music doesn't exist without them," said Kevin Curtin.

Some of the winners included KUTX for best radio station, Waterloo Records for best record store and Strange Brew for best live music venue.
