City of Austin Partners With University of Texas to Improve Traffic Flow

AUSTIN--The University of Texas will be helping Austin city leaders to find new traffic solutions.

The city will pay $2.5 million over the next five years to partner with UT’s Center for Transportation Research. Experts will evaluate the city’s adaptive traffic signal timing which was rolled out last year to adjust stop lights--especially during rush hour.

The partnership will also create a checklist of goals for the city’s Transportation Management Center.
