Mary joined the Time Warner Cable News Weather On The 1s Team in May 2011.

Meteorology piqued Mary's interest at a very early age when she took shelter from a tornado while visiting her aunt and uncle in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After that scary event, she became fascinated with the weather and wanted to be a Meteorologist so she could warn the public about approaching storms, just as one did for her that night.

Mary obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, emphasis in Electronic Media, from Morehead State University and her Master of Science in Geoscience, emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

She’s been awarded 2014 TX AP Award - Best Weather Anchor, Honorable Mention for the 2011 KY AP Award - Best Weather Anchor and has been given the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.

Originally from Winchester, Kentucky, Mary has studied and lived with all types of weather -- she even chased storms during graduate school!  Her favorite time of year is the fall in Kentucky when the leaves are changing and the winter in Texas when the average high is 70 degrees.

In addition to working her dream job, Mary loves attending church, spending time with her husband Billy, playing with her dogs and doing anything active outside.

Here are some other things you might not know about Mary:

  • I'm a HUGE pop-culture geek! I love everything from superheroes to zombies, and science fiction to fantasy. I'm also a huge "Game of Thrones" fan and have dressed up as different characters for Halloween.
  • I'm a Kentucky girl! My love of Kentucky basketball, horses and bourbon runs deep. I'm even a Maker's Mark Ambassador.
  • My favorite holiday is July Fourth.
  • I've wanted to be a meteorologist since she was 6 years old. If had not chosen a career in meteorology I'd be a surgeon or run an animal shelter.
  • In grad school at Mississippi State, I won the National Forecasting Competition for the city of Charleston, South Carolina, but I've still never visited the town.
  • I grew up playing a lot of sports but one really stuck: cheerleading. I even earned a scholarship to cheer at Morehead State University and was on the team who won the 2001 UCA National Cheerleading Championship.
  • I have two brothers and am the youngest. They live all across the country: Oregon, Texas and Kentucky.
  • I love fitness and being active! I've participated in several triathlons, road races and Crossfit competitions.
  • I also love Puffins -- the cereal and the bird.
  • I met my husband, Billy, in grad school at MSU. After 10 years together, 7 years married, 2 moves, and 4 dogs, we welcomed our first child into the world, our beautiful baby, Zoë, in February 2016.
