Mayor Steve Adler is heading to Paris to take part in the climate change conference.

Council Member Leslie Pool and Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea will join him there, and they'll meet with leaders from around the world.

Mayor Adler says there is plenty that Austin does right. For example, the city's entire fleet uses renewable and electric vehicles.

But, there's plenty more that can be done and luckily the cost is coming down.

"What we're finding now is the cost of building a solar plant is about the same thing as building a gas plant, and one of those is much better for the environment than the other," the Mayor said.

Adler says one thing Austin can do better is compost more.

He says about half of what is thrown away could actually be recycled.
