Sarah Blazonis joined Spectrum Bay News 9 as the Pasco County reporter after nine years of covering news across New York State.

Most recently, Sarah worked for our sister station in Buffalo. During her three years in the Queen City, she covered the November 2014 storm that dropped seven feet of snow on parts of Western New York, then-candidate Donald Trump’s Buffalo rally, and the month-long manhunt for escaped prisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt. She also won New York State Associated Press Awards in the public service category for her coverage of public health concerns.

Before that, Sarah spent four years at Spectrum News in Central New York, first in the Utica Bureau, then in the main newsroom. There, she became very familiar with the local courts, covering cases ranging from the killing of an Oneida County Sheriff’s deputy to the murder of a Utica motel owner by a man who jumped parole. One of her favorite assignments of all time was traveling to Washington, DC, with Honor Flight Syracuse, where she got to follow the emotional journey of local World War II veterans as they visited the monument built in their honor. She also contributed to the "Unsolved But Not Forgotten" segment, which profiled local cold cases. Sarah was recognized by the Syracuse Press Club for her work on that project, which detailed the disappearances of Oneida woman Tammy Mahoney.

Sarah began her career in the state’s Southern Tier, working at News Channel 34 and FOX 40 in Binghamton. She was among the first reporters on the scene to the 2009 mass shooting at the city’s American Civic Association, filing reports for her own station as well as providing updates for the national FOX News.

When she’s not tracking down the latest Pasco news, Sarah loves to travel, read, and explore her new home.
