AUSTIN, Texas – A swimmer was rescued from Lady Bird Lake overnight on Friday after a person heard him calling for help.

Around 3:11 a.m. Austin/Travis County EMS and firefighters were called to the 100 block of South 1st Street for a reported water rescue. The 911 caller said he or she could hear a person yelling for help in the lake.

ATCEMS found the man holding onto a pylon in the water. Firefighters deployed a rescuer on a paddle board to get to the swimmer.

The rescuer gave the man a life jacket and brought him to shore. The man was transported to Dell Seton Hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.
