AUSTIN, Texas -- The Austin Police Department on Thursday reported it is investigating at least two incidents in which fireworks were tossed at downtown businesses.

The department reported that at 1:07 a.m. Thursday a firecracker was thrown onto the patio of the Iron Bear, an LGBTQ-friendly bar located at 121 W. 8th St. There were no injuries reported.

About 35 minutes later, another firework was thrown at the south side of the Driskill, which is located at the corner of 6th and Brazos streets. An Austin Police Department sergeant heard the firework and saw smoke but didn’t locate the person responsible.

The department also said that about 1:58 a.m. on June 28, someone reported a firework was thrown onto the patio of Iron Bear, in identical fashion to the Thursday incident.

The department said popping fireworks is illegal within city limits and that anyone who witnesses an incident such as those being investigated should call 911.
