AUSTIN, Texas – At a meeting on Monday, Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority board members approved an agreement which allows Austin Community College students, faculty and staff to use the Green Pass to ride CapMetro’s services free of charge when school starts in August.

The Green Pass is available to students who are enrolled in credit classes and have paid full tuition or set up a payment plan. Students who are enrolled in adult basic education courses and staffing table employees are also eligible.

The plan would allow ACC's Green Pass to provide free access to the agency's buses, trains and other services.

For the past four years, ACC has sold the Green Pass for $25 per semester, requiring pass holders to pay $75 a year for access to Capital Metro transit services. The new agreement restores the relationship to its state prior to September 2014, when ACC personnel were able to take advantage of Capital Metro services with no extra charge.

The agreement also replaces ACC’s commitment to pay Capital Metro per ride taken by a Green Pass holder with a flat annual fee of $429,000, providing the school and the agency with a stable funding deal.
