AUSTIN — Last school year, Lake Travis ISD found 17 percent of its students have contemplated committing suicide and 37 percent of those students have attempted it.

That raised a red flag for mental health professionals, especially with suicide listed as the third-leading cause of death among people between 10 and 24 years old.

With hopes to address the issue, PeaceBOX launched its Summer of Giving program asking area businesses to help schools gain access to mental health services.

PeaceBOX's Stacy Thrash explains to our Victoria Maranan the services they provide and the importance of mental help, especially for students.
