SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office will appear on the TV show “COPS" Monday evening.

Sheriff Javier Salazar hope the show will serve as a recruitment tool with the added attention encouraging anyone considering going into law enforcement to become a deputy.

The episode featuring Bexar County's finest is a long time coming. “COPS" began filming in Bexar County last year.

Salazar said he's already gotten several calls from new applicants who heard about the show and are looking to launch their career with BCSO.

The show, the sheriff said, is important because it gives a realistic look of what it is like to serve your community.

That fictional cop character where you go out and bust the bad guys no matter the cost and you’ll handle the paperwork later bc right now you have criminals to catch. That’s not necessarily the reality on the street. We want people to have a good well rounded view of it,” Salazar said.

He went on to add that he's incredibly proud of the way deputies portrayed the department.

The show will air Monday, June 18, at 9 p.m. CT on the Paramount Network.
