SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Public Library will temporarily close Thousand Oaks Branch Library for renovations.

The library at 4618 Thousand Oaks Drive, will close Monday, June 25, through Thursday, July 5, for 2018 city budget-funded upgrades.

The library said birth certificates will not be available during the closure period.

Certified copies of birth certificates from 2005 to present can be picked up at one of three alternate library locations:

  • Great Northwest Branch Library, 9050 Wellwood St.
  • Las Palmas Branch Library, 515 Castroville Road
  • Mission Branch Library, 3134 Roosevelt Ave.

Residents seeking vital records are also encouraged to visit the Main Vital Records Office at 719 S Santa Rosa Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Branch improvements include new furniture, an updated teen area, an improved meeting room and more. The renovations are designed to ensure that the library remains a valuable community asset.

Thousand Oaks Branch Library is the third San Antonio Public Library location to undergo renovations funded in the 2018 city budget.

The nearest branches that will be open:

  • Semmes Branch Library, 15060 Judson Road
  • Tobin at Oakwell Branch Library, 4134 Harry Wurzbach Road
  • Brook Hollow Branch Library, 530 Heimer Road

Pan American Branch Library is also temporarily closed through Wednesday, July 4, for improvements. Cody Branch Library underwent renovations in April.
