SAN ANTONIO — According to a police report, a family disturbance late Friday night ended when a man was stabbed with a screwdriver on the city's North Side.

Police say officers were called to the scene of a “cutting in progress" at the Park West Apartments, 11845 West Ave., at about 11:15 p.m. Friday.

According to the same report, Darren Jonathan Castellano, age 23, was involved in a disturbance with a female, who was related to Timothy Carrasco, age 39. Castellano was hitting the female and Carrasco intervened, throwing him to the ground where Castellano received a blow to his head, causing a laceration.

The report concludes that, sometime during the struggle, Castellano stabbed Carrasco in the neck with a screwdriver. Carrasco was treated for a deep stab wound to the neck and was transported to University Hospital.

Castellano was transported by EMS to University Hospital as well. Both injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.

Castellano has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a bond set at $75,000.
